Day 40!

Rest day in Burton, OH!

We are camping at The Great Geauga County Fairgrounds in Burton. (I learned that it's pronounced "jee-auga.")

Rest days always include laundry duties. The dorms we've stayed in have always had laundry rooms in the basements, but fairgrounds rarely have basements, so all 37 of us descended on the local laundry at some point during the day today. Here's Rosie looking through the dryer glass.
Barb and Janet are having a little TOO much fun with clean clothes.
Burton is a great little town. It's one of the older towns in Ohio, and it has a lot of character in its old houses and buildings.

This is an old log cabin in the village green where folks make and sell maple syrup. Village greens and maple syrup - - - we're not even in New England! Actually, this village green was modeled after those in New England.

Several of us had both lunch and dinner at Cogan's, Village (Idiot) Eatery. Their motto is "Bad Food, Lousy Service." It's got great food, and the owner has a great sense of humor. "Sorry, We're Open" is the first thing you see as you enter the door.

We leave here early tomorrow morning for New Waterford, OH. It's supposed to be a low mileage day. I'm hoping it's a low elevation day, too!

The older homes in your photos are so beautiful. They remind me of the old homes in Fort Vancouver. Oh, how I miss Vancouver.

I hope tomorrow's ride is a pleasant one.

You're almost done.

Love,

Diana,
My name is Kelly and I found your blog thru Patty Harm's.

Thank you for your great blog. I've been "blog stalking" it for a short time now and have really enjoyed the photos and descriptions of your ride. Sounds like you are having an amazing time. And it's for such a great cause as well.

Only 8 days left...
Have fun, may the wind be always at your back, the temps be comfortable, and the drivers on the road aware. Ok so that may be wishful thinking, but all in all, I do hope that for you and the other riders of BRAA'08. Best of luck!
