Day 13!

Harlowton, MT to Billings, MT - 92.6 miles, 6:23

Thanks to the motel we stayed in, I had the best night's sleep I've had since I started this ride. I think I was asleep before 9:30, and I woke up refreshed before 5:30. Barb, Janet, Liz, and I all agreed that we need to treat ourselves to more motel rooms before this ride is over.

This morning was great! It was cool, there was a tailwind, and I felt strong and fast. Most of the time we've been riding into the wind, fighting it, and it felt great to have that extra little push from behind.

Some pictures from the morning:

Those little dots are sheep:
The first rest stop was at Ryegate. Darn, I'm too late!
This cliff was home to dozens of bird nests, which you may be able to see if you click on the picture:
I was being watched:
Lavina is a tiny town, and nothing was open on this Saturday in July:
There's not much to see as you head south to Billings:
Billings, the largest city in Montana, is like an oasis in the desert. It's in a valley, surrounded by sandstone cliffs on the north and east.
We have an especially good view from our dorm at Montana State University, which is on the north end of town. This is the view looking south after a brief rainstorm:
Tomorrow is a rest day, and I plan to do a lot of relaxing and sleeping!
