Day 20!

Rest day in Rapid City, SD!

Rapid City has a nice old downtown area, and there are statues of all the presidents on each corner! Franklin D. Roosevelt is below giving his "day that will live in infamy" speech.

Barb, Kevin, and Bob are standing with Calvin Coolidge before we had breakfast at Tally's Restaurant (a great place!).
Canadians Ash and Pauline are getting chummy with Texan Lyndon Johnson.

There is a big park right near the downtown area, and they have a piece of the Berlin Wall there. There's a very interesting display that tells all about the history of the wall. I'm in front of it with Chuck and Patty.
Before lunch, Barb and I stopped in at a pet shop, and the owner, Patrick Paur, let us hold and pet his parrots! Here's Barb schmoozing with Bubba.

How do we know this is real? You might be riding along in a car and getting the bike out for photo ops.

You are doing something very inspiring.

Keep at it. Stay safe! Atlee

Dear Diana,
I am in Arizona visiting my father reading your blog. The weather here has been interesting, they call it the monsoon season-thunderstorms and cloudbursts, rains turned to deluges followed by floods that erode the roadsides....so I am glad you aren't riding through this part of the country getting washed into some gully.
I have loved following your trip...the sites you've seen, the people you have met, and the experiences you've had...well, maybe not all the experiences you've had; I hate wind and unending heat and trucks zooming by.
I wanted to share with you my admiration to your cause and to your personal growth; what a life changing experience! Thank you for sharing with us and for taking us along. This is a wondeful way for us to ride along with you and see our beautiful country. Ann Smith
