Things are all relative on this Big Ride Across America. After riding over 95 miles both of the last two days, 70-some miles seems like a short day!
We left Pierre (remember, you should say "peer") about 7:00 this morning, and had our only climb of the day getting out of the Missouri River valley. Here's a view of the capital building as we were leaving the city.
Barb and Brendan (from Virginia):
Today's ride was along a straight flat road, with fields of corn, wheat, and other crops on either side. I felt like I was definitely in the breadbasket of the nation. Unfortunately, it was like today was baking day, and someone left the oven on!
I'm riding across South Dakota
on my way now to west Minnesota
when it's hotter than hell
what I dream would be swell
'd be a tall, ice-cold glass of cream soda
Our dinner was at a local restaurant, and we had much to celebrate. Happy 21st Birthday, Chad!
Happy 52nd Birthday, Janet!
Janet is showing all of us her amazing ability to walk across a room on her hands!
