Day 26!

Tyler, MN to New Ulm, MN - 89.5 miles, 6:35

It was a foggy and dewy morning when we packed up our wet tents. It was still foggy when we got out on the road, so today was definitely the day to use my new REALLY BRIGHT flashing rear light. It was nice and cool, but my glasses kept getting fogged up and I couldn't see the scenery I was riding past! It was like riding in a Twilight Zone episode.

I passed three of the 10,000 lakes in Minnesota. I wonder how many more I couldn't see.

That Laura Ingalls Wilder really got around. She was in South Dakota AND Minnesota!

Aha! So Walnut Grove, MN was where the real Little House on the Prairie was.

Minnesota is really clean and green looking.

An interesting farm building (chicken coop?).

Some more Minnesota farmland. The gentle rolling hills that we rode over yesterday were pretty much gone. This part of Minnesota is very flat, and it's so green! It made for a very pleasant ride.

This is the most interesting town name I've ever seen.

The character Linus was based on a real person (amazingly, he was named Linus) who was born and raised in Sleepy Eye, MN. This statue is in front of the town library.

More Minnesota farmland . . .

We're staying in the dorms at Martin Luther college in New Ulm. As soon as we arrived, before we could even think of relaxing, we all had to set up our tents to let them dry out.

Tomorrow is a rest day!

The foggy, dreary, wet pictures reminded me of Vancouver/Portland. Aw...how I miss that place.

Enjoy reading your blog. Keep it up. Love seeing the pictures too. Wish I was there.

Take care and rest well tomorrow.

Love always,

It looks like a nice cool NW day you would like. I saw on the route map all of the "Little House" towns and places and knew you'd be inundated by all of the marketing.

Still, It is good you have a rest in cooler weather. I hope to see some more sights from you tomorrow. Maybe even a smile!
