I took it easy today.
You'd think that near a university there'd be lots of cool, funky places to eat and hang out. Not so, near the University of Montana, Billings. The closest place for breakfast was a Perkins, several blocks away. Neither cool, nor funky, but I had a good breakfast there with Liz and Janet.
The rest of the day was extremely exciting: laundry, bike-cleaning, blog-updating, and even some relaxing reading.
Janet, Barb, Liz, and I walked quite a ways downtown for dinner.
An old library building:
Notice the horse on the porch:
This city, which reminds me a lot of Yakima (though Billings is bigger and newer), is very deserted on a Sunday evening.
After the walk back to the dorm, I, the sweaty pig that I am, was a sweaty pig. Now, you know.
A lousy Big Ride limerick:
So this gal pedals up hill and down
on the passes she tries not to frown
she shifts to low gear
then wonders, with fear,
"is there a bathroom in the next tiny town?"
If you pass through Montana you'll see
a nice healthy bush or a tree
by the side of the road
(the next line's in code)
it was fertilized by none other than me

Always the poet! It's good to know that you still have your sense of humor. I'm glad this adventure is really turning out to be something wonderful for you. I knew it would be.
But Diana, the town can hardly fail to be "cool and funky" once you step foot into it...!
Janelle
Montana already!? Wow, I doze off for a week or two and you've ridden half way across the country! Your ride reports are great to read and your photos are fun to see. Congrats on all that you've done so far!
Just returned from Florida and couldn't wait to open your blog to find out where you are in your journey. 1,000-mile mark must have felt amazing! Thanks for letting us "go along for the ride" through your journaling and photos.
Go, Diana!!!
